Indian Journal of Animal Health, 65 (2, Spl.), December 2026
Special Issue on
Advances in Animal Biosciences
The livestock, dairy, and aquaculture sectors play a vital role in ensuring global food security and food safety. The challenges faced by these sectors include climate change, infectious diseases, both emerging zoonosis and transboundary diseases, and resource scarcity. The use and integration of new technologies like NGS, AI, ML, and IoT in real-time to address sustainable livestock and aquaculture systems while ensuring environmental safety and animal welfare has become more critical than ever before. For over six decades, the Indian Journal of Animal Health has served as a cornerstone for academic and clinical progress across veterinary science, fishery science, and dairy technology. It is against this backdrop of rigorous scientific inquiry that we present this special issue, titled “Advances in Animal Biosciences”. This special collection furthers that mission by gathering cutting-edge scientific breakthroughs from leading researchers, academicians, and field professionals in the field. The peer-reviewed articles compiled herein reflect a collective effort to bridge laboratory-bench innovations with sustainable, farm-level applications.
Inviting Research and Review articles on the following Themes:
1. Sustainable Production: Focuses on reducing environmental impacts and managing climate change challenges in farming systems.
2. Welfare and Health: Highlights modern approaches to animal behavior, disease prevention, and ethical management.
3. Translational Science: Connects basic laboratory discoveries to practical, whole-animal, and farm-level applications.
Key Themes Addressed
1. Genomics and Breeding: Exploring modern molecular tools to conserve indigenous animal biodiversity and improve livestock production traits.
2. Diagnostics and Therapeutics: Highlighting next-generation sequencing, advanced molecular biomarkers, and precise clinical interventions in animal health.
3. Nutritional Innovations: Advancing animal nutrition and metabolism research to enhance metabolic efficiency while reducing environmental footprints.
4. One Health Paradigms: Examining the critical intersections of animal welfare, antimicrobial resistance, zoonotic disease management, and public health.
